Our History

Salesian Old Boys Cricket Club was established in 1961. Traditionally, the playing group spawned from former students of Salesian College, where our home ground is located.

We are a family orientated sporting club and we are passionate about cricket. We also love to mentor and develop the younger members of our community in the hope they go on to bigger and better things, both in cricket and in life.

We welcome new players, especially kids who have never picked up a bat or ball but are keen and willing to learn the game of Cricket.

The creature in our logo

The griffin, griffon, or gryphon is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and an eagle's talons as its front feet. Because the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle the king of birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. The griffin was also thought of as king of all creatures. Griffins are known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions.
